Nasser Al-Attiyah (Volkswagen) extended his lead of Dakar rally overall classification after stage 10, won by his teammate Giniel de Villiers.
Al Attiyah took the lead over his teammate Carlos Sainz after stage 8 on Monday, after the Spaniard lost time when he got stuck in the dunes.
Tuesday, Sainz captured the stage win around Copiapo, Chile, and closed the gap a little bit on Al Attiyah. But on Wednesday, Sainz lost again several minutes in the dunes as the rallye was back in Argentina.
Al-Attiyah lost also time by taking the wrong way in the stage, but Sainz then lost about ten more minutes tothe Qatar driver at the end of the day. HeĀ now stands 13 minutes behind Al-Attiyahin overall rankings.
Giniel de Villiers took his first stage win ahead of the two BMWs driven by Holowczyc and Peterhansel.
The Dakar rally will end on Saturday in Buenos Aires.
