Saab's 9-4X concept is a compact crossover-style SUV with a mission: to bring the brand's clean style and advanced engine technologies to the world. The 9-4X confirms plans at Saab to enter the crossover segment that's currently exploding, and their dynamic and driver-focused vehicle is engineered to deliver striking design and performance alongside respect for the environment.

"This concept is a clear statement of what our brand is about," said Jan Åke Jonsson, Saab Automobile Managing Director. "It is also an important next step in our plans to enter new market segments with distinctive product offerings."

The distinct 9-4X concept boasts a bright and energetic fascia which carries the brand's centre-sweeping grille and headlights above a set of oversized air inlets fixed to the lower bumper. It's a styling cue from the acclaimed Aero X concept. Chrome accenting is tastefully applied, and concept sketches pen the 9-4X in white- furthering its simple elegance.

Power from a 2.0 litre turbo engine is rated at 300 horses and delivered through the company's innovative and exclusive XWD (Cross Wheel Drive) system for enhanced traction and performance. The powertrain is an example of Saab's commitment to 'rightsizing' power output through turbocharging- a technology they pioneered 3 decades ago.

Saab engineers worked with outdoor sports experts Salomon to create some innovative storage solutions for would-be 9-4X owners. The concept houses features like a waterproof cargo area and built-in ski holder. Sounds like it'll be a real contender for the dollars of active couples and small families if it goes on sale. Saab- build this one!
