The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit is just a couple of weeks away and the excitement is sky high. Ever since Porsche announced that they will use the very first day of this major auto event to introduce an all-new model, industry experts and journalists around the world have had a tough time figuring out what it could be.

What exactly does Porsche have in store for us? Well, no details have been released yet and this amounts to one of the best kept secrets and most hyped vehicle launches in years.

We already know that the German automaker wants to expand its portfolio. The Cajun will soon become the baby Cayenne and a coupe variant of the Panamera might seem like the next logical addition. That would explain the growing speculation about the return of the 928, which stopped being produced in 1995. However, resurrecting the 928 under the same name is very unlikely since Porsche has yet to register it.

While the Los Angeles Auto Show turns the focus on green cars, the NAIAS is historically known as a springboard for big, powerful machines. With that in mind, it would be safe to assume that the new model in question will slot above the 911.

Again, that would explain various online rumours about a new Porsche powerplant generating 600+ horsepower through an all-wheel drive system.

One thing's for sure: no one outside the company knows for sure the name, specs and look of this new Porsche. Just about everyone expects a monster to be reckoned with, though. Of course, you can count on Auto123 to bring you all the information and images live on January 10. Don't miss it!
