Jaguar's smallest and lightest car made its North American debut this week in Detroit. It will go on sale in Canada in 2016 as a 2017 model.

Buyers will have a choice of a 3.0L turbocharged V6 rated at 335 horsepower and an all-new 2.0L Ingenium diesel producing 161 horsepower, either with a manual or automatic transmission. Trim levels include Pure, R-Sport, S, Prestige, and Portfolio.

Inside the 2017 Jaguar XE, you'll find the InControl multimedia system and a selection of Meridian audio units with up to 15 speakers. Additionally, it will be the first Jaguar model to feature electric power steering.

The Jaguar XE is also the first car in the world to use a high-strength aluminium alloy made predominantly from recycled material. The body uses over 75% aluminum content, which far exceeds any other sedan in its class.

More details and technical specs will be revealed closer to the Jaguar XE's on-sale date.
