The automotive industry operates at a rhythm that seems, in the past decade, to be turning more frenetic every year. Lifecycles for vehicle models and generations are getting shorter and shorter, and it’s no longer rare to see models get overhauled after only four years on the market.
All of which to say that the 2017 year coming to a close was a veritable blur of vehicle launches, reveals and debuts. As we did with our Top 10 Concept Vehicles and Prototypes of 2017, we took a look back at the past year and came up with a subjective list of the Top 10 New Vehicle Models Unveiled in 2017!
We revisited the major auto shows of 2017 – from Detroit and Los Angeles to Montreal and Toronto, from Chicago and New York to Geneva and Frankfurt, from Shanghai to Tokyo – and dug through our own news posts to fine-tune our list, keeping in mind that in today’s automotive universe launches are not restricted to the auto shows and sometimes take place in surprising places, at private events, even online.
As usual when narrowing down our choices for such a list, the decisions were difficult to make. Some superb models like the BMW i8 Roadster, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Ford F-150 and Mustang, Genesis G70, Jaguar E-PACE, Land Rover Range Rover Velar, Nissan LEAF and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross as well as Subaru’s Crosstrek and Ascent could not crack our top 10.
Here are the 10 that did:
