Pieces of the original car, the seventh oldest existing Buick, are displayed at the museum allowing visitors to watch the restoration work as it progresses. The car is purported to have been in Flint since it was purchased by Fred A. Aldrick, an executive in the old Durant-Dort Carriage Co. and an associate of William C. Durant, GM's founder.

Some of the parts for the 1905 car are on a replica of the 1904 Model B that is at the museum, which was created in 1976 as part of a history project for the U.S. Bicentennial.

"But while it was important to create the 1904 replica (no other 1904 Buick is know to exist), we now think we can find enough replica parts so we can take back the 1905 parts and rebuild that car," said Lawrence R. Gustin, Buick's assistant public relations director who has researched the early surviving Buicks. "It would be great to return another Model C to the small pool of survivors from that era - and this one is particularly important to Flint, because it has been in Flint longer than any other surviving Buick."
Some of the events during the Buick Centennial were as follows:
- There was street dancing and a fireworks display July 25.
- Huey Lewis and the News played to a sold out concert of 2,000 on July 26 at Flint's Whiting Auditorium. This was a private event for members of the Buick Club.
- More than 70 Buick owners partook in IHRA-sanctioned drag race at the Milan (Mich.) Drag Strip. (Milan is pronounced "my-lun" by Michiganians)
