A hot item in today's market, the Dodge Caliber has been tested, evaluated, and even smashed to bits. The results are in, and Caliber is the 12th consecutive vehicle released by Chrysler to attain top marks in crash testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In frontal crash tests, the Caliber was awarded five stars for its safety performance. In side-impact situations, it was also given the highest ratings for protecting the driver and rear passenger.

With advanced multistage front airbags, standard side curtain airbags, and even an inflatable driver side knee blocker, the Caliber's performance in accident situations offers owners peace of mind and confidence.

The results represent part of an integrated approach to safety used by the carmaker. The crash test performance afforded by Calibers high-strength steel structure is in addition to safety features intended to keep the Caliber under control at all times. All wheel drive is available, and an electronic stability program (ESP) with traction control can help compensate for driver error on surfaces with limited traction.

Other models awarded top marks for crash-test safety include the Magnum, Charger, Pacifica, 300, Commander and Chrysler minivan lineup.
