While we were taking a quick look on Dodge's website, we noticed that the Caliber is now available in R/T trim in front-wheel drive and with a 5-speed manual.
Initially, Canadians were only treated to the R/T with all-wheel-drive and CVT transmission. We found the car to be competent but lacking a performance advantage over its lesser versions, due to the added weight of the AWD hardware as well as the relative slow reflexes of the continuously-variable transmission.
The Caliber R/T with the manual transmission costs $20,695, quite a step down from the $23,995 base price of the Caliber R/T AWD. The CVT is also available with the front-drive version for an extra $1,300.
