Prior to the Norisring race, Timo Scheider (2008 Audi Sport) leads the DTM championship followed by Paul Di Resta (2008 AMG Mercedes C-Class), winner of the last race at the Lausitzring and Jamie Green (2008 Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class).
A year ago, Bruno Spengler drove the AMG Mercedes C-Class to victory, his second consecutive win in Nuremberg. Mercedes-Benz won seven out of nine races at the Norisring since the launch of the new DTM in 2000. The C-Class won the five previous races in a row.
Back to back winner Bruno Spengler (2008 AMG Mercedes C-Class) still has the fastest lap with 48.792sec, a new lap record for the 2.3-km track.
