For the 2009 DTM season, Audi wants no less than to become the first automobile manufacturer in the history of 'New DTM' to succeed in winning a title for a third consecutive time; having secure the championship in 2007 and 2008.
In the 2008 season, the DTM version of the new Audi A4 secured eight pole positions and six race wins. For 2009, as stated in official press documentation, the new DTM car with the internal project name "R14 Plus" will be optimised in every area.
Four new A4 and up to five 2008-spec vehicles will be entered by the Audi teams Abt Sportsline, Phoenix and Rosberg. And when it comes to the line-up, Audi also relies on well-established names: all the drivers will be selected from the squad that also raced in DTM and at the wheel of the R10 TDI, in 2008.
