Rumours suggest that German driver Mike Rockenfeller will be promoted to the Audi works team for the 2011 DTM season, replacing Martin Tomczyck.

Rockenfeller drove a 2008-spec Audi A4 for team Rosberg last year. According to the German press, Rockenfeller will take over Martin Tomczyck’s A4 beside Mattias Ekstrom, Timo Scheider and Oliver Jarvis.

On the other hand, Tomczyck would take Rockenfeller’s seat at the Phoenix team.

Markus Winkelhock, who drove a 2008-spec Audi A4 for team Rosberg last year, may leave the Audi squad to join the rival Mercedes team. Winkelhock tested a Mercedes C-Class in Estoril.

Former ChampCar driver Katherine Legge will probably leave the series to return to the USA.

Alexandre Premat, who left the Audi team before the end of last season, won’t race this year, and is rumoured to be in contact with BMW for 2012.

Darryl O’Young, who replaced the Premat in the last round in Shanghai, won’t be back in DTM, and may focus on racing in GT this year. The Vancouver resident won a race in the Australian GT championship in Bathurst in an Audi R8.

Website speedweek.de says that young Swiss female driver Rahel Frey would also take part to the DTM championship with team Phoenix.

Single-seater drivers Edoardo Mortara (reigning Formula 3 Euroseries’ champion) and Felipe Albuquerque would join team Rosberg, while Spaniard Miguel Molina is rumoured to stay with Abt Sportsline.
