After a one-month summer break, the DTM series will be back in action this weekend at Brands Hatch, Grand Britain.

With three wins, four pole positions and five podiums in six races, Bruno Spengler is definitely the man to beat this season. The Canadian leads the provisional standings, seven points in front of Audi driver Martin Tomczyk, with four races remaining this season.

This weekend, the DTM drivers will run on the shortest circuit of the season, as the Brands Hatch “Club” circuit is just 1,9 km long (just over one mile!), and it takes about 45 seconds to complete a lap, less time than at the Norisring.

Moreover, the British circuit offers very few overtaking opportunities. That’s why qualifying will be crucial, as Bruno Spengler explained to Auto123.com:

“There are very few places overtake in Brands Hatch, and it’s very important to have a good starting position. That's not an easy thing to do, as the lap times will be extremely close on such a short circuit. Moreover, it’s very difficult to have a clear lap, especially during in Q1 and Q2 with a lot of cars on the track. The race will be long with 98 laps to complete. Anything can happen,” said Spengler.

Provisional standings
1. Bruno Spengler (Mercedes), 47 points
2. Martin Tomczyk (Audi), 403
3. Timo Scheider (Audi), 29
4. Jamie Green (Mercedes), 24
5. Mattias Ekström (Audi), 21
