Audi work drivers Mattias Ekström and Oliver Jarvis set the best performances of the first testing session at the Norisring.

The first free test session of the fifth round of the DTM championship was ran on a track still humid after the morning rain. But it went dryer and dryer through the session, and the last drivers on track were logically fastest.

Behind both work A4, two private C Class Mercedes set the 3rd and 4th best performances with the young drivers Maro Engel and Christian Vietoris. The first HWA Mercedes driver is Canadian Bruno Spengler.

Spengler, who stands second in provisional classification one point behind Tomczyk since the Lausitzring, set the pace in the early minutes of the session, and stopped his runs earlier than Ekström and Jarvis.

Championship leader Tomczyk set the 8th best performance.
