The DTM series will make a comeback this weekend at the famed Le Mans Bugatti circuit in France. Mercedes-Benz is surely happy to get back to the French circuit where it had so much success.
Canadian Bruno Spengler won the race held there in 2006 while Mika Hakkinen still holds the record for the fastest lap.
Prior to the final two rounds of the 2008 DTM season, Timo Scheider (Audi) still leads the championship with 62 points, 7 points ahead of runner-up AMG-Mercedes driver Paul di Resta. Teammate and fellow Briton, Jamie Green, with 46 points, still holds third place.
While still mathematically in the race, Green would have to count on his two rivals to be out of the points at Le Mans to still have a chance.
The 2008 season has been a close battle between Mercedes-Benz and Audi, the first having won five of the nine DTM rounds held to date.
Reigning DTM 2007 champion Mattias Ekstrom (Audi), two times championship runner-up Bruno Spengler (Mercedes) and Martin Tomczyk (Audi) while out of the race are still among the favourites to win the event.
