Mathias Ekström (Audi) takes pole position in Valencia for the penultimate round of the DTM championship. Canadian driver Bruno Spengler (Mercedes) had tough qualifying, and will start from 13th place on the grid.
After his win at Oschersleben, Mathias Ekström used his momentum to clinch his second pole position of the season in Spain. The Swede leads another Audi, the semi-private 2008-spec A4 driven by Filipe Albuquerque, who will start from the front row for the first time of his career.
Another rookie driver set a great performance in Valencia, as Renger Van der Zande set the third fastest lap aboard his semi-private 2008-spec C Class. Another surprise on row 2, as veteran David Coulthard takes fourth place in the session.
The first HWA C Class Mercedes is down to 9th place: Gary Paffett will start from inside row 5, alongside team mate Ralf Schumacher.
Bruno Spengler had a tough qualifying with his C Class. The Canadian driver takes only 13th position. His championship rival Martin Tomczyk will start from 11th place.
