The DTM series has unveiled the format that its non-championship event will take next week, in the Olympic Stadium of Munich, in Germany.

Autosport says there will be a different competition each of the two days the DTM will be having its demonstration. The idea is to drag the sports closer to its fans with a Race of Champion-style event.

On Saturday, the nine regular drivers from Audi and Mercedes will eliminate each others rounds after rounds until the best driver of both teams will fight for glory to determine which of the two manufacturers' is the fastest.

The 16 drivers that will make Saturday's quarter-finals will then go against each other’s in a different manner on Sunday with the fastest going against the slowest, the second faster against the second slowest and so on.

Each race on Sunday will require the drivers to do a mandatory pitstop with the winners of the two semi-finals going at it for the ultimate race of the weekend.
