Montréal’s Metropolitan Transport Agency (AMT) has announced a new pilot project involving carpooling in zero-emission vehicles.

It is called AMT Wednesdays, or in french, "Merceredis de l'AMT", and will allow workers from the same part of town to travel together, in the same electric car, one of the three bigger "drop-off points": the Montmorency, Cartier or Sainte-Dorothée stations.

Never before in Canada has such a project been undertaken.

The joint venture by the Société des Transports de Laval and the AMT aims at solving the parking crisis in the aforementioned stations. Users have at their disposal 10 electric Chevrolet Volt, which can be charged at different locations and parked in reserved spots.

Pilot project organizers must be pleased with the way their initiative is going, since 100% of the users who tried it out so far have said they would recommend this arrangement to other persons.

To be eligible, you must be a Laval resident. To reserve your spot, visit the STL's website.

Hurry up! Only a few spots left…
