German driver Sebastian Vettel put his Renault-powered Red Bull RB7 on pole position for Sunday’s Grand Prix du Canada held in Montreal.

The reigning World Champion scored his sixth pole in seven races.

"The conditions will be different tomorrow. We know it’s going to rain tomorrow; the key is to know when. The team did a very well job in fixing the car very quickly on Friday," said Vettel during the press conference.

Vettel set his best lap with a time of 1:13.014 and he was particularly fast in sector 2, where good grip is crucial.

It is evident that some cars are set-up for tomorrow’s rain, meaning that they produce a little more downforce and are slightly slower on the straightaways.

The Ferrari duo of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will start the race second and third. Both drivers said they were very happy with the performance of their Ferrari 150 on this stop-and-go track.

"It was a great qualifying session. It’s good to be back on the front row. Here, the aerodynamics are less important here, and the new parts we put on the car are working well," said Alonso.

Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber ended up in fourth place, fourth tenths of a second down to the pole. Webber’s car suffered from a KERS issue this morning and Mark lost some valuable track time.

Lewis Hamilton was fifth in his McLaren-Mercedes, ahead of Nico Rosberg’s Mercedes, Jenson Button’s McLaren and Michael Schumacher in the second Mercedes.

"It will be a long race, and anything can happen," said Vettel.

"I think the McLarens are set-up with a little more downforce than us, so if it rains, they’ll be pretty good," Alonso declared.
