Fernando Alonso has revealed he is working hard to "gain the confidence" of his new formula one employer Ferrari.

The Spaniard made his second recent visit to Maranello on Thursday, meeting with technicians and driving some laps of the Fiorano test track in road cars.

"I have to gain the confidence of the team and begin a good relationship with the engineers and mechanics," said the 28-year-old, who switches from Renault, where in 2005 and 2006 he won the drivers' world championships.

"That is what I am trying to do in these months, in order to arrive at the first race with a good understanding with the team so that we all feel comfortable together," Alonso is quoted as saying by Spain's Marca.

He also confirmed that he is not taking with him to the Maranello based team any engineers he has worked with over the course of his eight-year grand prix career.

"I must say I get along very well with many of them and they are very good, but I assume that the ones with Ferrari are the best in the world," said Alonso, who was speaking at a PR event in Madrid and wearing an official Renault team shirt.
