Ross Brawn, Mercedes GP boss and FOTA's chairman of the technical regulations group said he expects the Formula 1 teams to be able to test the 2011 tires before the current season is over.

Autosport.com revealed that the teams must test the new tires without the need to putting together a test team since testing has been banned during the season.

"There has got to be some testing with the new tire supplier, whoever it is, so I think late summer and early winter there will be some tests organised with the new tire supplier," said Brawn.

"But again, we must try and accommodate that within the teams we have. We can't afford to go out and start rebuilding test teams again."

Brawn also said the 2011 tires are likely to be very similar to the ones supplied by Bridgestone now.

"I think everybody wants a tire to come in that has similar construction characteristics to the current tire, whether the compounds are quite the same is another matter," Brawn added.
