The BMW Sauber team announced on Tuesday that they have hired veteran driver Pedro de la Rose to drive alongside Japanese rookie Kamui Kobayashi in the 2010 Formula 1 Championship.
There are now just four places unavailable. And we're just two weeks before the first test session to be held in Valencia, Spain
One of these seats is the second Renault.
Canadian driver and former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve still hopes to land this drive. Villeneuve has some contacts with Gravity Sport Management, part of Genii Capital, now co-owners of the Renault F1 Team. Would that be enough however?
Russian driver Vitaly Petrov has confirmed reports he is a candidate to become Robert Kubica's teammate. The 25-year old GP2 series' driver has massive sponsorship money.
Other possible candidates include veteran Nick Heidfeld -- not blinding fast but reliable and strong -- and last year's Renault driver Romain Grosjean, who sadly made several mistakes in his maiden Grands Prix.
There is also one seat available at Campos Meta. The Spaniard team will undoubtedly hire a driver with wealthy sponsors as Adrian Campos recently admitted that his budget for 2010 is far from being found.
The new USF1 team from the United States have not revealed the name of their drivers. Canadian Jacques Villeneuve still has a very slight possibility of driving for them. Also in the ranks are Argentinian Jose Maria Lopez and several well founded drivers.
