French politicians François Fillon and Hubert Falco have spoken in front of the media, while visiting the Circuit Paul Ricard facilities, giving hope to those expecting a announcement in favour the French Grand Prix return.

Fillon and Falco estimate that things thins are boding well since everything that could be done is being put in place.

"I had to drop by in the region because of the presidential campaign, and I figured I could not miss this opportunity to give my absolute support to this whole thing, and specially to the community and Hubert Falco, who are trying to obtain the return of a Formula One Grand Prix at the Circuit Paul Ricard," Fillon said.

"I've been pulling all the stops since 2007 to bring the race back because it just makes no sense than one of the industry's leading nation doesn't have an F1 race. We've helped making the car – and car racing – what it is today.

"But why bring the race here in Castellet? Because it's just a beautiful track, and it meets the sport's high standards. It's probably one of the most beautiful circuit in the whole of Europe. More importantly, this is the only region that could support such an event without the help of any direct financial input from the government."
