Peugeot strongly denied any interest in buying the Honda Formula 1 team based in Brackley, Great Britain. The rumor said that French manufacturer PSA, selling cars under the names Peugeot and Citroen, had reportedly expressed interest in buying Honda's beleaguered formula one team.

Anonymous sources apparently told the Belgian motor racing magazine Autosportnieuws that the carmaker, last involved in F1 as an engine supplier with the now-defunct Prost team, has made enquiries to buy the Brackley based team as an active F1 competitor.

A spokesperson of Peugeot Sport told Auto123.com this morning that Peugeot had no interest at all in buying the Honda team.

"It is completely false. The rumour was launched by a web site last week. It is ridiculous to think that a car manufacturer would invest in F1 today in such a deep economical global crisis. How can anyone imagine that we are at the same time closing down production site on one side and investing millions of euros in a Formula 1 team?" he told Auto123.com.
