F1: Jacques Villeneuve afraid other constructors may leave Formula 1

"It may not be such a bad thing after all. That could leave room for a new team. Or someone will do what Ross Brawn did with Honda earlier this year and purchase the assets of the team. Peter Sauber could do something like that because he knows the team and he knows how Formula 1 works. But first he's got to be interested," Villeneuve said.

"BMW's withdrawal from F1 was almost unavoidable. Considering their poor results of this year and the difficult economic climate around the globe, lets say the timing was good to pull the plug. However, we must not be surprise is we see other car manufacturers pull out of F1. The next one would be Renault. They are on the edge. Their exclusion from the next Grand Prix will probably scare other manufacturers that are currently involved in F1. I would be surprise if nothing else happens," Villeneuve concluded.
