Jaime Alguersuari
Jaime Alguersuari, having been included in the Faenza-based Toro Rosso team's calendar of pre-season work, is hoping his deal is confirmed in early January.

The young Spaniard is undergoing official Red Bull training. Toro Rosso may be holding off confirming Alguersuari's contract for next year while in talks with potential Spanish sponsors.

Nelson Piquet
Motor21.com said on Monday that Nelson Piquet signed a three years contract with new Campos team in 2010, ensuring a lineup of famous surnames, after his countryman Bruno Senna also signed for 2010 with the Spanish outfit.

The publication said Piquet's seat follows the 15 per cent purchase of the Campos-Meta team by his namesake and father, the triple world champion of the 80s. Motor21 also said several Brazilian sponsors are to accompany Piquet to Campos, who will sign an as-set unnamed Spanish test driver.

However, the website's news was not backed by any other well-known publications or sources and December 28 is the Spanish holiday known as 'Day of the Innocents', which is similar to April Fools' Day.

Frank Montagny
Franck Montagny has hinted strongly that he will not be returning to formula one in 2010. "F1 is magical but winning Le Mans would be realistic ... and just as magical!" he wrote on his official website.

Montagny, who recently confirmed he has been in contact with the Renault and USF1 teams, turned to endurance sports cars with Peugeot in 2009, and is now expected to return to Le Mans racing with the same French marque next year.

Andy Soucek
New F2 champion Andy Soucek has hinted he could be installed as Williams' test and reserve driver in 2010. The Spanish-Austrian recently tested for the British team at Jerez as his prize for winning this year's F2 series.

Soucek is hoping to move into a formula one race cockpit for next season, with vacancies at Campos and USF1 believed most likely.

He told the Spanish sports newspaper Marca: "I would prefer to race with any of the new teams than to be test driver with Williams. It is crucial to race because you learn the circuits and other things a lot better than as a tester."
