The McLarens of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button appeared on top of the timesheeta in the second free practice session at Melbourne blighted by intermittent rain and a stiff breeze.
2008 world champion, Lewis Hamilton, appears infront the 2009 world champion, Jenson Button, with a small advantage of just 3 tenths of a second.
In front of his fans, Mark Webber (Red Bull) set the 3rd best time, while Michael Schumacher (Mercedes) clinched an excellent 4th best overall at the end of the session.
Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) and Felipe Massa (Ferrari) are together mid-pack in 15th, 16th and 17th position, far from their positions in the first session, in which they were also together 4th, 5th and 6th best times.
Renault's Robert Kubica finished 11th wihile his teammate, Vitaly Petrov, put his Renault in 5th position during the second session.
At Hispania Racing Team, Karun Chandhok, with a suspected gearbox failure, had to park his car 200 yards into his out lap. Bruno Senna's car faced a fuel pressure problem and missed the entire session.
