Former Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton revealed on his personal Twitter account that he performed his first virtual tests of next year’s car on the McLaren simulator.

“I was on the simulator yesterday, first time driving the new car and I was happy,” Hamilton wrote.

The model used in the simulator already includes the many changes to the technical regulations imposed in F1 starting next season.

“(Complete with) KERS and rear wing is tricky but felt right at home with it,” Hamilton wrote about the return of the Kynetic Energy Recovery System that is back in F1 and the moveable rear wing that is destined to facilitate the passing manoeuvres.

“Our KERS is the best. It should deliver.”

“These new tyres are ok, not too big a difference. Rears are weak too. They degrade fast. Reason I didn't do the test is the tyres will change,” said Lewis about the new Pirelli tires.

“Car will change and so it was best to let the test drivers get all the data needed for the simulator and wind tunnel,” he added, explaining why he and his teammate Jenson Button did not participate in the Pirelli tests at Yas Marina.

Hamilton said he was still working hard at this time of year.

“No holiday yet. I am working flat out today with appearances until mid December. I’m pushing guys at MTC (McLaren Technology Centre) too,” Hamilton wrote.

Hamilton finally revealed: “Me and JB (Jenson Button) are both driving the new MP4-12C tomorrow, sick car! The 12c is the new McLaren road car”.
