The Lotus Renault team said that almost all of the routine systems checks have now been completed, allowing the team to focus on performance work and tire evaluation in Jerez next week.

Kubica set the fastest time of all three days with a 1:13.144 in the 2011 Lotus Renault R31 fitted with the tricky exhaust pipes blowing air underneath the side pods..

The 2010 Force India of Adrian Sutil established the second time of the day. Sutil’s programme was focussed principally on collecting further data on the performance of the Pirelli tires under different set-ups and fuel loads.

Jenson Button took over the driving duties at McLaren after Gary Paffett and Lewis Hamilton. The British team continued tire testing using the new Pirelli P Zeros. Jenson’s input – along with that of Hamilton and Paffet – has given the team a very broad dataset with which we can begin to understand and hone the tires and car set-up for 2011.

Red Bull Racing’s Mark Webber was fourth in the RB7, followed by Felipe Massa of Ferrari. On his very first run this morning, the F150 suffered an oil leak, which caused an off-track excursion and started a fire on the car: it took around four hours to carry out the necessary repairs.

James Key, Technical Director of Sauber, talked about the new Pirellis.
