BMW-Sauber driver, German Nick Heidfeld posted today the fastest time on the final day of testing at the Jerez circuit. The teams will be back in testing action next week in Barcelona.

Heidfeld covered a total of 123 laps covered despite the circuit being hit by rain in the morning and by gusts of wind most of the day.

The German's best time of 1:20.052 put him over three tenths of a second ahead of Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari).

Lewis Hamilton set the 3rd fastest time in his McLaren. The team worked on tuning the car's set-up before the session ended prematurely at 15:30 when a sudden gust of wind swept Lewis off the track and into a tyre barrier. While the impact was only a mere 44km/h, the car went in rearwards, doing enough to dislodge the rear wing and lightly damage the car's rear-end.

Red Bull's Mark Webber and Williams driver Kazuki Nakajima ranked fourth and fifth fastest, respectively.
