Pirelli has decided to change its plans and will not bring the updated Formula 1 tires to the next three Grands Prix.

The Italian tire manufacturer said in a press release that the decision to stick to the previous tire construction is due to the fact that the revised tires, which were brought to the Friday free practice sessions in Canada, could not be tested sufficiently due to rain – and that the teams failed to agree unanimously about introducing the changes.

“No construction change due to lack of team support” was the title of the press release that did not contain a quote from Pirelli director of motorsport, Paul Hembery.

Instead a change in the tire production process should now ensure that the delamination issue has been addressed.
