German driver Sebastian Vettel is now just one step away from clinching his second World Championship after he crushed his opposition to score an easy victory in Singapore on Sunday.

The Red Bull driver finished in front of championship rival Jenson Button (McLaren) and it was Button's presence in second place that prevented Vettel from confirming his second consecutive world championship by a mere point.

Vettel's teammate at Red Bull Racing, Mark Webber, claimed third place from Fernando Alonso (Ferrari).

The Satefy Car came into action after Michael Schumacher's Mercedes GP car collided with Sergio Pérez's Sauber. As the Mercedes crashed head-on into a safety wall, thankfully without injury to Schumacher, Vettel's near-20s lead was neutralised as the Safety Car was deployed. The seven-time World Champion was subsequently reprimanded for the incident.

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton finished fifth (having to pit for a new nose after a contact with Felipe Massa and then received a drive-through for causing the collision) ahead of Paul di Resta (Force India), Nico Robserg (Mercedes GP), Adrian Sutil (Force India), Felipa Massa (Ferrari) and Pérez.
