The Formula Tour 1600 has announced it will go from Dunlop tires to Toyo tires in 2011

The series came to an agreement with the Japanese tire manufacturer this week. The Toyo PROXESS R888 tires that will be used by the teams for the next two years have the great advantage to be cheaper than the Dunlops used in the last two seasons.

Drivers of LM La Scuderia team tried the new tires with impressive results. They said the Toyo tires will not only be durable but equivalent efficiency on a dry as well as a wet track surface.

SCCA World Challenge and Castrol Canadian Touring Car series have previously worked with Toyo Tires. It will be a first “formula” experience for the manufacturer.

Dunlop has announced earlier last week that its collaboration with the popular series DTM will also come to an end on December 31, 2010.
