Scheduled to make its world debut at the 2017 Frankfurt International Motor Show in September, the Ferrari Portofino is the new V8-powered GT car set to dominate its segment thanks to a perfect combination of sportiness, elegance and interior comfort, the company promises.
Named after one of Italy’s most beautiful towns, which also inspired the body colour (Rosso Portofino), this 2+2 drop-top unleashes 591 ponies and sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds while producing a characteristic, yet enhanced, Ferrari V8 soundtrack.
The Ferrari Portofino’s chassis is all-new and much lighter than that of the outgoing California T. And for the first time on this type of Ferrari model, the third-generation electronic rear differential (E-Diff3) has been adopted and integrated with the F1-Trac, improving both mechanical grip and control at the limit. Electric power steering is part of the mix, too.
As for styling, close collaboration between the Aerodynamics department and Ferrari Design has ensured maximum efficiency in the development of the surface treatment. Inside, a slew of new features ensure superior comfort, highlighted by an infotainment system with a 10.2” touchscreen, a new air-conditioning system and 18-way power adjustable seats with a new backrest design.
