The very first Hyundai Tucson fuel cell vehicle has entered the Quebec market, after being delievered to the head of the Centre de gestion de l’équipement roulant (CGER), Mr. Paul-Yvan Deschênes. The CGER oversees the vehicle fleets of a number of the province’s government ministries. Quebec is the third province to take delivery of the fuel-cell Tucson, which is already in circulation in B.C. and has recently been introduced in Ontario.

The fuel-cell Tucson will be leased in partnership with the Hydrogen Research Institute of Trois-Rivieres at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR), where the vehicles will be recharged. According to Mr. Deschênes, “The CGER is always pushing the boundaries of automotive fleets to reduce gasoline consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. We have been studying Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle technology for many years and have been waiting for it to become available in Canada. With over 420 kilometres of range, seating for five, only pure water vapour as exhaust, and only five minutes to refuel, the Tucson Fuel Cell is an excellent addition to our advanced vehicle fleet.”
