Quantum Technologies, leader and OEM supplier of state-of-the-art clean propulsion technologies, fuel and energy storage technologies and services including propulsion systems, and Fisker Coachbuild, LLC have just announced the launch of a joint venture called Fisker Automotive, Inc.
The company will offer a range of environmentally friendly premium cars -- with the first production model to make its worldwide debut at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in January. Initial production is expected to be 15,000 units annually with a starting price under US$100,000.
All models will feature the cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology called Quantum Drive, developed by Quantum Technologies exclusively for Fisker Automotive. This all-new plug-in Quantum Drive chassis layout will allow the company to design innovative luxury cars with uncompromised proportions.
Benefits of plug-in hybrid vehicles include optimized fuel efficiency and performance as well as unchanged gas station infrastructures. As for the battery, which reloads by itself when the combustion engine is running, owners can plug it in any household 110-volt outlet.
