Available are three powerplants. The 2.5L, 168 hp 4-cylinder of the previous model returns, but reworked to provide 5% better fuel economy. There are two EcoBoost engines: a 1.6L with 173 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque that will offer the greatest fuel economy, and a 2.0L EcoBoost with 237 hp and 250 lb-ft that, with tow-packaged equipped Escapes, boasts a rating of up to 3,500 lbs.
It debuts with a trick new liftgate that automatically raises when a foot is waved beneath the bumper. According to Ford, over 4 million plastic bottles were rerouted from the landfill by being recycled as interior carpet and upholstery.
