Ford has announced an investment of $1.6 billion in a new assembly plant located in San Luis Potosi State, Mexico. The goal is to ramp up small-car production to meet increasing demand.

It is estimated that approximately 2,800 additional direct jobs will be created by 2020.

Construction will begin this summer, and Ford projects that the first vehicles will enter production in 2018. Which ones? That remains to be specified.
