After doling out details about the new A3 Concept, Audi officially released the complete specs today at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. And if the production model looks even remotely similar, buyers will get one sleek pocket rocket.

The pavement-searing notchback sedan with quattro all-wheel drive system produces a hefty 408 horsepower and 368.78 lb-ft of torque from a 2.5-litre, 5-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine featuring direct injection. It's all backed by a 7-speed, dual-clutch S tronic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

In terms of performance, the German automaker claims a time of 4.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h along with an electronically-governed top speed of 250 km/h. Yet the engine requires just 9.1 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres and emits 212 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

Built on a carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) frame and using aluminum for the doors, hood and rear hatch, the A3 Concept weighs only 1,540 kilos.

According to Audi, rear-seat occupants will enjoy a pleasant amount of knee room thanks to a 2.63-metre wheelbase. Meanwhile, cargo capacity is rated at 410 litres. Up front is the Audi MMI multimedia system with 8-inch display and large rotary push-button that includes the MMI touch pad.

Standing out from previous A3 models, the concept sports a low roof dome with fluid lines flowing into flat, coupe-like C-pillars. Huge 20-inch wheels are part of the package as well. At the same time, the brand's signature grille and LED lights make this new Audi unmistakable.
