Testing in the West is now over. NASCAR's main series are getting ready for Daytona and its spectacular events. There will be some testing but mostly qualifying and racing. The season is really getting under way.

A far as racing is concerned, it will really begin on February 9 with the ARCA 200 in the afternoon (that can be seen on TV at Speed).

Several Canadians are on the entry list, including Andrew Ranger from Montreal (Chevy No 98), Pierre Bourque from Ottawa (Dodge No 93), Ray Fischer from Surrey, B.C (Chevy No 25), Terry Jones from Amherstburg (Chevy No 30) and Mario Gosselin, a Quebec-born racer and team owner who now lives in Florida (Chevy No 21). Add to those drivers Dario Franchitti (Dodge No 40).

Saturday evening will be the Bud Shootout day (on Fox) while on Sunday, fans will be able to see Daytona 500 qualifying for front row on Fox at 1 pm.

Thursday afternoon will be time for Gatorade Duel at 2 pm for the rest of the Daytona 500 qualifying on Speed. See what our Villeneuve and Carpentier boys will do! On Friday the 15 at noon, TSN should show the Nationwide race qualifying and later on, at Speed, it will be time for the first major race of the week-end, the Craftsman trucks race (on Speed).

On Saturday, February 16, in the afternoon, TSN should broadcast the first Nationwide race of the year and on Sunday the 17, the Daytona 500 gets under way at 3:30 pm (On Fox).

Junior Johnson, winner of the 1960 Daytona 500 will drive the Corvette Z06 pace car while The King Richard Petty will officially wave the green flag!
