After working together for many years, General Motors is once again partnering with Japan's Isuzu, this time to develop low cab forward medium-duty trucks and sell them as Chevrolet models, according to the Wall Street Journal.

GM will use the Isuzu N-Series as a platform for its upcoming Chevrolet 3500, 3500HD, 4500, 4500HD, 5500 and 5500HD models. A company insider said the engines will be entirely GM's.

Prior to filing for bankruptcy in 2009, GM sold the GMC Topkick and Chevrolet Kodiak. Now, the market for medium-duty trucks is blooming in the U.S. These vehicles serve a variety of purposes including dump trucks, garbage trucks, tow trucks, and many other functions.
