General Motors of Canada has announced prices for two more of the six SUVs it will roll out in the coming months -- Cadillac Escalade and Chevrolet Avalanche.

Because Escalade is the most powerful SUV on the market and because it has an all-singing, all-dancing equipment list attached to GM's toniest marque, the marketing mavens in Oshawa have priced Escalade at $72,700.

GM calls the Chevy Avalanche the Ultimate Utility Vehicle because it's an SUV/pickup truck with unique storage abilities. In a 2-wheel-drive configuration, Avalance will carry an MSRP of $38,960. As a 4x4, Avalanche will list for $42,205.

Joe Aiello, GM's full-size truck brand manager, says that, "With Avalanche the customer gets two vehicles for the price of one. In seconds, and without any special tools, one person can reconfigure the Avalanche from a 6-passenger SUV into a 3-passenger full-size pickup truck with an 2.4-metre protected cargo box."

The other new SUVs coming from GM soon include:

  • Buick Rendezvous has a front-drive CX for $30,995, an all-wheel-drive CX for $34,995, and a CXL all-wheel-drive for $39,775
  • Chevrolet Trailblazer has a two-wheel-drive LS for $34,600, an LT for $37,455, and an LTZ for $42,235. In four-wheel-drive configuration, the LS is $38,170, the LT is $40,775, and the LTZ is $45,555.
  • GMC Envoy has the two-wheel-drive SLE for $37,955 and the SLT at $42,345, or the four-wheel-drive SLE at $41,275 and the SLT at $45,670.
  • Oldsmobile Bravada with four-wheel-drive and pretty much everything else for $46,455.
