According to Computerworld, General Motors of China is currently testing a new app called DiDi Plate allowing smartphone users to scan the licence plate of another vehicle and start texting with the driver.

Some may use the app to alert others about dangerous moves they make on the road or anything else that compromises traffic safety. On the other hand, there are people who could use it to get information on certain drivers.

Privacy advocates in North America would likely prevent DiDi Plate from enjoying any kind of success, but it doesn't appear to be the case in China.

What do you think about an app that lets you scan the licence plate of another vehicle and text with the driver?
