GP2: Charles Pic and Fabio Leimer win first two rounds in Barcelona

Rookies Charles Pic and Fabio Leimer clinched a victory each in the first rounds of the 2010 GP2 championship held this weekend in Barcelona.

Poleman Jules Bianchi had a poor start and was hit by Christian Vietoris at the first corner. Both men were forced to retire.

Sergio Perez took the lead ahead of Charles Pic and Giaccomo Ricci. But the Mexican lost the lead during a slow pit stop. Pic inherited first position, and captured his first GP2 victory ahead Ricci and Dani Clos, while Perez managed to cross the line in 4th.

Eighth in the first round, Fabio Leimer had the advantage to start from the pole in Race 2. The young Swiss driver was able to maintain the lead until the checkered flag, although Luiz Razia put intense pressure on him. Pastor Maldonado took 3rd position.

Seventh in the second race, Charles Pic is now the leader of the provisional standings. The next two races will be held in the streets of Monaco next weekend.
