Giaccomo Ricci took his first GP2 win in race 2 at Budapest after he led from start to finish.

The italian started from pole position after he took 8th place in race 1. He even found himself alone on the front row as his DPR team mate Michael Herck stole his engine before the start.

Jerome d’Ambrosio challenged Ricci in the first lap for the lead but the Italian was able to keep his first position, and take his first GP2 win. D’Ambrosio was then forced to retire at mid race after technical issues.

Christian Vietoris moved up to second, as Davide Valsecchi inherited third position. That was a tough race for both championship contenders, Pastor Maldonado and Sergio Perez. Maldonado was stopped by a black flag for ignoring an orange-black flag that indicated him to stop in the pits to fix a broken front wing. Sergio Perez went off by himself when he tried to overtake Valsecchi in the second lap.
