Pastor Maldonado won his 8th win in the 2010 GP2 season and pulled away in front of provisional championship classification.

The start of race 1 in Budapest was a bit difficult as Valsecchi, who started from first row of the grid, stole his engine before formation lap. Then Adrian Zaugg stole his engine on the starting grid at the start : yellow flag. At the second start, it was poleman Sam Bird’s turn : the Brit also stole his engine ! New formation lap, with Maldonado and Vietoris who moved up to first row.

The start was finally gave, everybody moved perfectly this time, but Bianchi spun after the first corner, and was hit by Dani Clos and Ho-Pin Tung. The Frenchman suffered a fracture of his second lumbar vertebra, and will probably be out for almost two months. The race was stopped.

When it resumed, Pastor Maldonado pulled away in front, and took comfortable win ahead of Christian Vietoris and Sergio Perez.
