Pre-season testing resumed for Grand-Am teams, as most of them headed back to Daytona for some valuable track time before the Rolex 24 (January 28-29).

Three shining-new Daytona Prototype (DP) Corvette, a much-expected Audi R8 Grand-Am, and Felipe Nasr – British F3 champion –, made their respective on-track debut at this second testing venue.

After winning the Sunoco Rolex Challenge, Nasr earned himself a ride in the Action Express No.58 Porsche/Riley – not just for testing, for the big race as well. The switch to DP power was a big one.

"Wow! I didn't expect these cars to be so quick," declared Nasr. "Obviously there is a big difference from F3 […]. I had such a great day today."

Even though the DP Corvette was unveiled and tested three weeks ago, many drivers still hadn't had the chance to get a feel for it on the track. David Donohue and Darren Law were among the happy few to experience the No.5 Action Express Motorsports Corvette.

The much anticipated debut of the Audi R8 Grand-Am also worked wonders to put a smile on many people's faces. The Daytona bankings were new to Audi representatives, but they thrived.

"This was a new experience for us," said Romolo Liebchen, Audi's head of customer racing […]. Obviously we are not so wrong. I think we are on our way."

Unfortunately for more american-hearted fans, the Dodge Viper supposed to make a comeback this season with Racers Edge Motorsports was no where to be seen.

Teams will have another go at testing on December 19th, before the opening of the 50th edition of the Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 28-29.
