Corvette's DP and Ferrari's F458 GT challengers made the most of their last occasion to burn some rubber before the start of the 2012 Grand-Am season.

While Corvette occupied spots 1-2-3-4 of the time sheet, Riley-BMW No. 1 Chip Ganassi Racing car, driven by Scott Pruett, had a costly accident. The reigning DP champion exited the track head first during a night practice. The ensuing crash with the protection barriers ended the team's day.

"I was overtaking a GT car. He hit me in the back and I spun, which sent me in the barriers," Pruett explains on Endurance-Info.com.

"On a normal day, we would have fixed the car to go back on the track, but since it's fairly new, we don't have all the spare parts. Instead, we had to take it back to the shop. They guys are examining the details and reconstructing what happen, so in the end, it's still useful."

Meanwhile, Olivier Beretta had enjoyable first taste of his new Ferrari F458 machine since he left the Corvette factory team.

"It’s been a long time that I’ve wanted to drive for Ferrari and finally I’ve got the opportunity to do it so the smile is back [on my face]!" Beretta shared on Rizi Competizione's website.

"The team has been really welcoming and I already knew some of my teammates like Andrea Bertolini and Giancarlo Fisichella well so I feel comfortable here.  I think we’ve got a very good line up and team and the test went very, very well. All the drivers want the same thing on the car as far as set up is concerned and that’s good news so now we just have to work harder to achieve our target."
