GT1 world championship promoter Stephane Ratel told that he is in talks for a new american GT3 championship.

GT3 championship has been launched in 2006, and became the most succesfull GT category with no development allowed during the season, and low costs compared to the GT1 and GT2 cars.

The success of the category is reflected in the number of championships GT3 existing in the world with an European championship of the discipline, and especially the numerous national championships: Germany, France, Great Britain, Belgium, China, etc.

Among the cars allowed in FIA GT3 in Audi, there are the Audi R8 LMS, Aston Martin DBRS9, Ford GT, lJaguar XKR, Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, BMW Z4 ou Ford Mustang FR500 GT3, etc.

The United States could welcome a championship GT3 in 2012. It will depend on the number of manufacturers that will be interested to enter such a championship, as there is already several GT series existing such as ALMS, Grand Am, and DTM in 2013.
