Mazda will host of the global debut of its new HAZUMI concept at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show. The name refers to a small, energetic car that would be ideal around town, thus previewing the next-generation Mazda2.

Also on display in Geneva will be Mazda's new 1.5L SKYACTIV-D diesel engine, and a feature celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Mazda Miata/MX-5.

UPDATE
The Mazda HAZUMI concept, unveiled today at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, features the four key pillars of Mazda’s vehicle engineering including SKYACTIV technology, KODO—Soul of Motion design, Mazda Proactive Safety, and a next-generation car connectivity system called Mazda Connect.

Mazda President and CEO Masamichi Kogai commented: “Mazda HAZUMI indicates the exciting direction of Mazda’s products which, with no exception, will deliver Mazda’s unique driving pleasure. We hope that they will enrich people’s lives, and help build a strong and lasting bond between Mazda and our customers.”

Also at the show, Mazda revealed a newly developed, small-displacement clean diesel engine, the SKYACTIV-D 1.5, which is even more fuel efficient than the current SKYACTIV-D 2.2 engine.
