If you're a Mustang fan or owner (and even if you're not in the Montreal area), you'll want to listen up. The Montreal Mustang Club is in full swing as summer has finally arrived in the city.

A few weeks ago, members of the Montreal Mustang Club gathered to kick off the season at a local dealer, Circuit Ford Lincoln in Montreal east. Mustang owners from across the island (and even a few from out of province) showed up to strut their stuff and stuff their faces with free burgers and hot dogs. While the sun shone and summer tunes blared from the loud speakers, the club's president, Michel Groulx, took a moment to speak with us.

“We've been around for 30 years, this year is our anniversary”, Groulx explained happily. Mustang owners already seem proud enough, but it seems they have extra reason to be this year.

As owners arrived, revving their 5 litres and drowning out the music with double-barrel exhaust pipes and gurgling aural explosions, the question of burn-outs (a classic muscle-car move) came up.

“Mustang owners have a lot of respect for one another, and for the police”, explained Groulx with a serious tone. “We have one big show in August where we display burn-outs and other things, but it's always controlled and always very respectful.”

And good thing too. From GT 350s to a Roushcharged 5.0L and even a Mach 1, there was some serious muscle power in the parking lot that night. All that rushing fuel and adrenaline is sure to go to some owner's heads (and throttle), but from what we saw the meet was extremely controlled.
